Oregon Swimming Coaches Association - Board of Directors

Article 1 membership and fees

  1. The classes of membership and qualifications are:
    1. Active - presently coaching
    2. Retired - was an active coach in Oregon for five years or more
    3. Associate - non-coaches
    4. Honorary - by vote of the organization for outstanding service
  2. All members of the organization must be members of Oregon Swimming
  3. Yearly fees for membership will be $10.00.  Honorary members will have their fees waived.  Fees are to be collected with Oregon Swimming membership registration

Article II officers

  1. The officers of the organization shall be Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.
  2. Officers shall be elected by the members of the organization at the annual meeting of the organization.  Elections take place in even numbered years.
  3. The elected officers shall serve a term of two years, or until such time as they are replaced by a vote of the organization.
  4. In the event the secretary or treasurer resign or are removed from office the chair shall appoint a replacement until the next annual meeting, where a new officer shall be elected.
  5. In the event the chair resigns or is removed from office a new chair shall be elected from nominations provided to the membership by the secretary and treasurer.  The vote shall by by mail, and occur within ten days notice of the resignation or removal from office.

Article III officer duties

  1. Chair
    1. Serve on the Oregon Swimming, Inc. Board of Directors and attend required meetings.
    2. Act as liaison between USA Swimming and Oregon Swimming Coaches Association.
    3. Attend USA Swimming Annual Convention with the Oregon Delegation and report to OSCA at the annual meeting (paid for by Oregon Swimming, Inc.).
    4. Attend annual ASCA convention (at OSCA expense) and report to OSCA membership at the annual meeting.  Designate replacement if unable to attend.
    5. Coordinate and bring in speakers for the Annual OSCA clinic.
    6. Chair the nanual OSCA meeting.
    7. Contribute to the Oregon Swimming monthly newsletter.
  2. Secretary
    1. Take minutes at OSCA meetings and distribute in a timely manner.
    2. Chair meetings in the absence of the chairperson
  3. Treasurer
    1. Collect and deposit all membership fees.
    2. Pay all bills as directed by OSCA.
    3. Present annual report on income and expense at the annual OSCA meeting.

Article IV meetings

  1. The annual meetins shall be held in connection with the fall House of Delegates meeting of Oregon Swimming, Inc. or as otherwise determined by the officers of the organization.
  2. Only active and retired members shall have the right to vote on any association matter.
  3. Special meetings of the organization may be called by the Chair.  Association members must be notified in writing of special association meetings at least ten days prior to the meeting.
  4. Club members of Oregon Swimming, Inc. not sending a coach representative tot he annual OSCA meeting shall be fined $50 per occurence.

Article V amendments

  1. Any proposed amendment to the bylaws of the organization shall be submitted in writing to all members of the organization entitled to vote thereon not less than ten days nor more than fifty days prior to the annual meeting at which the vote will be taken.
  2. The bylaws of the organization may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of members present and entitled to vote at the annual meeting.
