Oregon Swimming Coaches Association - Constitution

Article I name

The name of this organization shall be "The Oregon Swimming Coaches Association."


Article II status

The organization shall not operate for profit.


Article III purpose

  1. To help provide the necessary leadership and education in the field of swimming in cooperation with other interested organizations in Oregon.
  2. To promote organize forums where member coaches may exchange ideas on technique improvement and promotion of the sport of swimming on the local level.
  3. To educate the general public to the tremendous moral, physical, and intellectual benefits to be derived from participation in competitive aquatic sports for boys and girls of all ages.
  4. To abide by and enforce the USA Swimming code of ethics.
  5. To foster cooperation between coaches, officials, laymen, support groups, and sponsoring organizations of swimming competitions.
  6. To foster the employment of full-time swimming coaches with a professional status and adequate salaries in aquatic facilities throughout Oregon.
  7. To persuade educational organizations, private clubs, public pools, etc, to elevate their present swimming coach to a higher professional status.
  8. To select and provide coaching staff for Oregon Swimming, Inc. all-star and Zone teams.

Article IV membership

  1. The association shall have such classes of membership as designated in the bylaws of the organization.
  2. The designation, qualifications, dues, obligations, and rights of the members of each class shall be set forth in the bylaws of the organization.

Article V officers

  1. The association members shall elect from their own membership the officers of the organization.
  2. The elected officers shall be Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer, or as otherwise provided in the bylaws of the organization.
  3. The qualifications of officers of the organization and the manner of their election shall be set forth in the bylaws of the organization.

Article VI amendments

  1. Any proposed amendment to the constitution shall be submitted in writing to all members of the organization entitled to vote thereon not less than ten nor more than fifty days before the annual meeting of the organization.
  2. A two-thirds majority vote of the members of the organization in attendance at the annual meeting, and eligible to vote, shall be required to adopt a proposed amendment to the constitution.
