Woodburn is in need of Officials for 10 and Under sessionJanuary 31, 2007 Dear OSI Swim Officials,
We have a super group of 93 10 & Under swimmers that could use your help this Saturday morning at Woodburn. Currently we are not legal with the number of officials we have. We need at least 2 and it would be really great to get 3-4 officials to help us out from 8am – 10:45am at the Woodburn Memorial Aquatic Center. It’s a short session and should be allot of fun. The pool is located at 190 Oak Street, Woodburn, Or. 97071 My phone number is 503.982.2302, our meet referee is Sue Fuller ( fullcourt01@comcast.net ). All the other sessions are covered except this one. We could really use some help. We have been told we offer some of the finest food around in our Hospitality! Thank you, Coach Zell WBST coachzell@wbst.org Board of Directors Agenda PostedJanuary 31, 2007 The Oregon Swimming Board of Directors February meeting agenda has been posted. BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Wednesday, February 7, 2007 - 7:00 PM AGENDA General Chairman - Mark Rieniets

Next Executive Committee Conference Call, March 7, 2007, 7:30PM Next Board Meeting, April 4, 2007, 7:00PM, Multnomah Athletic Club Adjournment Open Letter from Craig MatherJanuary 25, 2007 Fellow SOU pool supporters,
On Monday, January 23rd, the front-page story in the Medford Mail Tribune told of 24 SOU faculty positions being cut to help balance a $4 million shortfall. If one chooses to look further, go to page 45 of the 53 page SOU Provisional Plan outlining additional cuts. On that page are the words: Close the swimming pool in McNeal Hall. We all know this would devastate most of the aquatic programs in our valley. We also know that there is an absolute crisis in funding for higher education. However, there is no substitute, as yet, if we lose the use of the SOU pool. At a speech to the Medford Rotary in December 2006, SOU president Dr. Mary Cullinan stated: "...we continue to move our campus toward a greater recognition of our larger community and its needs. No University can be successful without realizing its role in the COMMUNITY..." For over two decades, SOU has epitomized these words in its stewardship of the SOU pool. The purpose of this letter is to emphasize the word PROVISIONAL in the SOU plan. There is a public "comment period" allowed up until February 19th about this plan. As interested pool users, all of us need to comment! It is absolutely vital that we all call, write, or email Dr. Cullinan. Forward this email to other interested parties so that they may also comment. As President of SOU, Dr. Cullinan is the individual with the power. Jonathan Eldridge is the Vice-President for Student Affairs (responsible for the pool) under Dr. Cullinan. Dr. Dennis Francois is the Athletic Director at SOU who reports to Jonathan Eldridge. Triple your voice by "cc"-ing Mr. Eldridge and Dr. Francois. Craig Mather Liam Wong Breaks 200 Breast RecordJanuary 19, 2007 At the CAT Open this past weekend, Liam Wong of EY broke the 11-12 boys 200 breaststroke record. His time of 2:24.25 betters Corey Williams' 2004 record of 2:25.30. Liam just missed the record last month at the CAT Senior Open swimming 2:25.46. Congratulations Liam.
Two OSI Records FallJanuary 18, 2007 Two OSI records fell over the past weekend. Santo Condorelli, swimming unattached, traveled to the Texas Aquatics New Years Classic where he swam 26.01 for 50 yards fly, bettering the 11-12 boys record of 26.05 set back in 1992.
At the Corvallis Open, Daniel Chen of LOSC swam 23.50 in the 50 free, bettering the 11-12 boys record of 23.71 set in 2005. Great job swimmers.
