New OSI Records Set at AG Sectionals

March 20, 2006

Four individual and three relay records were lowered in Federal Way over the weekend as swimmers competed at the Northwest Section Age Group Championships.

Kaylin Bing of RST set new records in the 11-12 girls 100 free, 50 back, and 50 fly. In the 100 free, Kaylin lowered Tori Simenec's year old record by swimming 53.14. Next she swam 27.76 in the 50 backstroke, bettering her own record of 27.89 set earlier this year. Kaylin's final record came in the 50 fly, where she swam 26.50 to better another of Tori Simenec's records. Kaylin's time of 26.50 was just a little faster than Taylor Scroggy (THSC) who also dipped below the old record. Kaylin and Taylor finished 1-2 in the 12 year old 50 fly at sectionals.

Karen Turner, swimming of Lake Oswego, set the other individual record. Her 2:08.19 in the 11-12 girls 200 IM was well over a second faster than the old record set in 2003.

In relay action, the 13-14 boys team of Connor McCarroll, Brendan Liu, Issac Hayden, and Steven Ung (THSC) lowered the three OSI relay records. In the 200 free relay, they swam 1:32.28, bettering the old record of 1:33.23 set in 2033. In the 400 free relay, they swam 3:22.07, bettering the 1996 record of 3:22.73. In the final record, the four went 3:44.94 bettering the old record of 3:45.47 set in 1988.
