Oregon Swimming House of Delegates meeting

September 19, 2007

2007 Oregon Swimming House of Delegates meeting is scheduled for Sunday, October 14,  at the Mount Hood Community College in Gresham.

  • 8:30AM - 9:00AM: House of Delegates check-in
  • 9:00AM - 3:00PM: Oregon Swimming House of Delegates meeting

Each member club of OSI is required to send a representative to this meeting. Eastern Oregon District and Cascade East League may elect one delegate to represent their respective clubs.

The Chair will determine the timing of a lunch break, if needed.

Nominations for Oregon Swimming Awards

Oregon Swimming is seeking nominations for it's annual awards. The awards will be presented at the 2007 Oregon Swimming Awards Ceremony in November.

Nomination can be mailed to Oregon Swimming, 1750 SW Skyline Blvd. #103, Portland OR 97221, or e-mail to swim@oregonswimming.org.

Please send the name(s) and accomplishments for your nominations in the following awards. 

  • James J Richardson Award awarded to outstanding long term contributor to the sport of swimming in Oregon Swimming.
  • United States Swimming Outstanding Service Award. This award is sponsored by ConocoPhillips for contributions to Swimming in the past 2 years.
  • John Arlin Adapted Swimming Award, for contributions athletes with a disability
  • Media Award for Outstanding Support to Oregon Competitive Swimming. Bring scrapbook to General Meeting

Officials Clinics, October 13 2007

Officials Clinics will be held at the Mt Hood Community College Aquatic Center, October 13, 2007. The clinics start at 1:00PM and take about 3 hours.  If you are interested in a Stroke and Turn, Starter, Electronic Timing, Referee or Meet Director Clinic contact the office at swim@oregonswimming.org.  For more information about officiating contact Bruce Ludwig at bludwig50@charter.net

Note: There is no charge or membership requirement for the clinics.  Attendees not already members of USA Swimming must join prior to beginning on-deck training. Clinics run concurrently, therefore you may attend only one clinic.

Electronic Timing Clinic in Hood River

Gene Mielke will be holding an Electronic Timing Clinic at the Hood River Pool, October 3 at 5:30PM-8:30PM. If you are interested participating in this clinic, contact Gene at emielke@charter.net.

Altitude Camp Participants Named

September 13, 2007

This year's Sectional Altitude Camp participants have been selected.  The selection was very tough with many great applicants.  Participants were selected with priority given to all swimmers with Junior National time standards.  Further selection was based on how close they were to the Junior National time standards and how many Sectional times they have achieved.

The following will participate at the camp at the Olympic Training Center on October 25-28.

Lauren Thies Swim Clinic on September 16 Presented by EQ Swimwear

Featuring instruction by Eugene YMCA and Former University of Oregon Coach Dan Cole and 5-time National Champion/2-time Pan American Gold Medalist Lauren Thies. The clinic will be held at Amazon Pool in Eugene, Sunday September 16, 9am-12pm. We will cover in-water instruction, dryland exercises and mental preparation. All levels welcome. Train the Trainer Clinic Scheduled at Mini-Expo

There will be a train the trainer clinic at the annual Mini-Expo on October 13, 2007 at Mt. Hood. If you need a clinic for trainer recertification or want to become a trainer, this is the place for you! For a new trainer, please see the trainer requirements posted under the training tab in the officials section of this website. For a recertification, all that is needed is the clinic. We will begin at 9:00 am and run until approximately 11:30. If you have any questions, please contact Training Coordinator Kathy Coddington.
