The program begins each July 1st and continues through June 30th of the following year. Applications, including a copy of the official year-end school transcript and a copy of the swimmer’s times, are due on August 1st of each year. Applications for the 2009-2010 year will be available in March 2010. SAA members receive three certificates, a pin for those earning a 4.0 GPA and three-time recipients receive a travel alarm clock. TTSC Hosting Splash And Dash BenefitSeptember 23, 2009 Fellow Swim Coaches, Swimmers and Friends, The Tigard Tualatin Swim Club is hosting "Splash and Dash" an Aquathlon (Swim Run) Benefit for the Tigard and Tualatin Swim Centers. The Event takes place on the Tualatin High School Campus this Sunday, September 27th. The 500 yard Pool Swim 5k run begins at 8:30am at the Tualatin Swim Center and the 12 & Under Mini "Splash and Dash" (200 yard Swim 2k run) begins at 11:30am. This event helps buy time to keep the doors open of both the Tigard and Tualatin High School Pools. Our School District has cut the funding of one of the pools in our district as of this month and has slated to cut the funding from the other pool by July 1st of 2010. A group inside our community is fighting back and we have already gotten signed resolutions from the five cities that make up our school district and collected 8450 signatures so that we can get the pools on the ballot in May of 2010 as a Special Aquatic District to fund the two pools yearly operational cost. A telephone survey done at the School District level has shown good support for the pools and the measure once we get it on the ballot. Please bring join your swimmers and help us in the fight to keep these two local pools open. Closing a pool in any community is a bad thing for the swimming community as a whole. It sends the wrong message about our sport. The running course is pretty flat and the surface is over 80% packed gravel, so relatively soft. You can still register on-line and get more race info at www.savettpools.com . We will take day of race entries. Medals for top 3 in individual age groups and unique custom made plaques for first place over finishers. Please help us make this a competitive event . We are trying to get a good showing of people, as the local media should be there...it is also great way to encourage that dryland running part of your swim program with your swimmers. Hope to see you there this Sunday! -Jeanine Serrano OSCA Golf OutingSeptember 22, 2009 All coaches interested in playing golf on Friday October 2nd in Seaside please contact Mark Bernett at bendswim@coinet.com OSCA Clinic Schedule for Oct 3rdSeptember 16, 2009 9-9:30am- OSCA Clinic Check In 9:30-11:30am- Dave Salo- Current Head Coach of the University of Southern California Men's and Women's Swimming.
