2007 Award Ceremony in Multnomah Athletic ClubOctober 26, 2007 The 2007 Award Ceremony will be on Sunday November 18, 2007 in the Multnomah Ahtletic Club from 2 - 4 PM. Important message for Altitude Camp ParticipantsOctober 16, 2007 Participants of the Sectional Altitude Camp will be receiving one more letter at the end of the week regarding the trip. The letter will include the full itinerary and other pertinent information about our trip to the United States Olympic Training Center. There will be two groups leaving Oregon. One group will be leaving Redmond Oregon at 6:15am. The other group will be leaving from Portland at 10:10am. The Portland group will meet at the Delta Airlines ticket counter at 8:30am. 2008 Oregon Swimming Board of Directors electedOctober 14, 2007 At the General meeting in Gresham the 2008 Board of Directors were elected for 2008/2009. General Chair: Mark Rieniets, Senior Chair: Skip Runkle, Secretary: Marilyn Loitz, TPC: Jim Bowe, Junior Ahtletes Representative: Sloan Storie. For 2008 - Administrative Chair: Bruce Ludwig. The Oregon Swim Coaches Association elected Kyle Kimball as Chair/Coaches representative and Shane Bennett as the All Star Zone Head Coach.
USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Team NamedOctober 14, 2007 The 2006-2007 Scholastic All-American team has been named. Thirty-one Oregon swimmers made the list. The Scholastic All-America Team is comprised of high school student-athletes, who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and have competed in an individual event in one or more national caliber championships including the Speedo Championship Series, Nationals and the National Open Water Championships.
Coaches and officials clinicsOctober 10, 2007 The coaches clinic on Friday evening will be in room GE201 and Saturday in the Gym. Dinner will be served in the gym at 6:00PM, OSCA Meeting at 7:00PM in the GYM. Important message about Safety Training for Swim CoachesOctober 10, 2007 The Safety Training for Swim Coaches Clinic will start at 4:00PM this Friday, October 12 in the Mt Hood Community College Pool. Volunteers NeededOctober 8, 2007 Special Olympics Oregon is seeking volunteers for the 2007 Regional Aquatics Competition Saturday, October 13th 8:30am – 3:00pm at Osborn Aquatics Center in Corvallis, Oregon. Over 110 athletes from 7 local communities will be competing in a one-day meet at Osborn Aquatic Center. Volunteers are needed as Stroke & Turn judges, timers, awards crew, escorts, staging, runners and lunch crew. If you can give the day to Special Olympics Oregon, please contact: Joann Stoller, Director of Sports Sign-up Today!_ 2007 Mini Expo October 12-14, 2007October 8, 2007 This year the mini expo is in the Mt Hood Community College. All activities will be in the gym and its surrounding classrooms. Coaches clinics are Friday evening and Saturday, the coaches meeting Saturday evening. Officials - Train the Trainer 9:00AM- 12:00PM, Officials clinics are from 12:45 - 4:00PM Saturday. Safety Training for Swim Coaches at the pool classroom and the indoor pool, Friday from 5:00PM - 9:00PM. Train the Trainer ClinicOctober 8, 2007 There will be a train the trainer clinic at the annual Mini-Expo on Oct. 13th at Mt. Hood. If you are interested in becoming a trainer or need your recertification for trainer, this is the place for you! For a new trainer, please see the requirements under the training tab on the officials page. We will begin at 9:00 and run until approx. 11:30. If you have any questions, please contact Training Coordinator, Kathy Coddington. If you are interested in particiapating send a message to the office swim@oregonswimming.org. Newsletter Mailing List UpdatesOctober 6, 2007 Oregon Swimming recently switched to a new mailing list manager.
