Oregon Swimming honored the 2010/2011 top 5 athletes at the award ceremony in Canby. They were all called up on the stage and received a trophy and patch.  Also mentioned were the OSI records and USA Swimming top 10 times.

Awards were given to:
Female athlete of the year - Peggy Liang - CRST
Male athlete of the year - Jacob Pebley - CAT
Collegiate athlete - Rachel Heaney - SCAT/Boise
Coach Excellence award - Matt Crum OCST
Age group Coach of the  year - Matt Crum OCST
Senior Coach of the year - Rick Guenther CAT

Dick Parker offficials award - Julie Carpenter - MAC
James J Richardson award - Stan Benson
Uinted States Swimming outstanding service award - Jacki Allender
Jon Arlin Adaptive Swimming award - Peggy Liang - CRST

This year the award ceremony is Sunday, November 20 at the Richard R Brown Fine Arts Center, Canby High School, 720 SW Fourth Ave, Canby OR 97013.  Refreshments are served at 1PM, awards presentation start at 2PM.  For more information contact the OSI office office@oregonswimming.org.

Linfield College is hosting the NW Invitational Relays meet on November 18th and 19th.  This is a Division III college invitational meet.  We are looking for help with officiating as this would be an approved meet under USA Swimming guidelines.  Any officials who are available to help should contact Julie Greenaway at agreena833@aol.com or Dan Gipe at gipes@earthlink.net.   Meet Schedule is as follows:

Friday                          Warm-ups:  2:00-5:45 PM
                                  6:00 – 9:00 PM Sessions 1 Timed Finals
Saturday                      Warm-ups:  7:30 - 9:45 AM
                                   10:00 AM Session 2 Timed Finals
                                   Warm-ups:  3:00 – 4:45 PM
                                   5:00 PM Sessions 3 Timed Finals

Oregon City Swim Team is hosting the Fall Open this coming weekend (November 12-13) and are in need of an electronic timer for both days.  Contact Debbie Laderoute if you can help or have questions at debbieladeroute@q.com

Hello Oregon Swimmers!! It's time to start thinking about the 2012 Pacific Coast All Star meet. The meet will be in Langley BC, Canada January 7th-8th, 2012. All swimmers applying this year are required to have a valid passport, and provide proof of that passport when sending applications into the Oregon Swimming office. The meet will be swum in short course meters. You can find applications for the Oregon All Star team attached to the Oregon Swimming website.  Applications are due by December 14, 2011.

I look forward to seeing the applications roll in, and I'll see you all on the pool deck!

The Lincoln City Pumpkin Sprint is looking for officials (especially those certified as Starter) for November 12 and 13th. The meet ends early each afternoon allowing plenty of time to enjoy the beach. If you are able to help out or know that you are coming already please notify Kym Jacobson at margarita.ville@charter.net.

Portland Aquatic Club is in need of certified ET's for Session one and Session five of the swim meet this weekend at Lewis and Clark.  If you are interested in helping out please email Daniel Donohue at  <ddonohue@pdx.edu>.  Session one is on Friday night with warm-ups at 4 pm, meet from 5- 8:30 pm.  Session five is on Sunday with warm-ups at 1 pm, meet 2- 6 pm.  Thank you for your help!

There will be a stroke and turn clinic for anyone interested in becoming an official in McMinnville Saturday 11/5 at 2PM, during the afternoon session of the McSwimmville Meet. If you would like to attend or for more information contact Dan Gipe at gipes@earthlink.net.
